Product Director Commercial Aviation

Roles and responsibilities:

The Product Lead Commercial Aviation is responsible for defining SkyFive’s A2G connectivity service for Commercial Aviation.  He/she works closely with the Sales & Marketing and the Engineering Design Lead as well other key stakeholders during the design, implementation, and delivery of the A2G connectivity network service and solution. 

 

The Product Lead Commercial Aviation will manage the related interactions with our customers & partners to capture Market & User requirements and will also define minimum viable products (MVPs). 

 

He/she will be responsible for driving product definition from opportunity identification until handover to service operations.  Following by the product Life cycle management throughout the obsolesces and future improvements.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Defines SkyFive A2G connectivity product for commercial aviation 
  • Leads the gate process from definition, specification, implementation, verification, and delivery of the A2G services and solutions
  • Support the customer solution and customer connectivity service validation
  • Manages customer relationships and their technical and commercial requirements
  • Supports the development work performed by the SkyFive R&D organization and our suppliers
  • Supports the design lead in analyzing and selecting suppliers for subsystems (HW, SW) and services (qualification, certification, installation)
  • Works closely with the Design Lead, system design experts from the R&D organization and suppliers during the implementation, verification and delivery
  • Ensure functional and qualification readiness of the aircraft solution

Support delivery of MVP/proof-of-concept solutions as a step towards a commercial solution

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Product & Solution management built upon a solid service & system engineering background
  • Prior experience with aircraft communication systems or similar systems (10+ years)
  • Solid understanding of aircraft cabin networks, cabin Wi-Fi services and value-added services
  • Good understanding of 4G and 5G mobile networks

Lead System Engineer - Air-to-Ground Software Stack

Roles and responsibilities:

As Lead System Engineer - Application Development of A2G Software Stack, you are responsible for managing the feature-oriented technical requirement design, interacting and steering of partners, suppliers and internal teams during implementation and integration across multiple business domains. You demonstrate and hand over the integrated requirements to the internal integration & verification team and the customers for final approval. 

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Definition and management of technical requirements for A2G software stack based on customer requirements across commercial aviation and urban air mobility business domains
  • All responsibilities of a product owner (including the creation of clear user stories / requirements based on overall system requirements)
  • Contribute to the release planning / backlog definition and reporting
  • Collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders (such as product management, system design team, architects, integration & verification, and 3rd party development teams) to define and deliver the product with excellent customer experience
  • Coordinate with other system engineers to define the steps/plans that are needed to deliver the end-to-end implementation and integration of a requirements
  • Lead the execution of the agreed plans and remove upcoming impediments or escalate if it cannot be solved on this level

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience & education
    • Degree in engineering, computer science or a related field
    • 10 years working experience in system engineering or SW development
  • Technical skills:
    • Strong software engineering background
    • Hands-on experience with Software Configuration Management, CI/CD pipelines and Issue tracking tools such as gitlab, JIRA etc.
    • Knowledge and experience of both Agile and Waterfall software development methodologies
    • Knowledge and exposure to cloud technologies like MS Azure, AWS is highly desirable
    • Prior experience with aircraft communication systems (e.g., from commercial or business aviation, helicopters)
    • Solid technical understanding of 4G and 5G mobile networks is a plus
